| Whisky Distilleries | There can be nothing more synonymous with Scotland than whisky and the Glazert Country House Hotel could be your base while you explore the local distilleries. The Glengoyne Distillery is situated 15 minutes by car from the hotel and with it's popular visitor centre our 'local' distillery is a must see attraction for anyone. Less than half an hour drive away lies the Auchentoshan Distillery and visitor centre open seven days a week. For any whisky enthusiast a visit to the Scotch Whisky Experience is a must. Situated near Edingburgh Castle (only an hour drive), you can find out how the 'water of life' is produced along with the subtle differences between the various regions. After a day exploring the delights of the whisky making process why not retire to the lounge bar and see what all the hard work is for by sampling the wide range of whiskies we stock from all over the country. | Mugdock Country Park | A country park and historical site of stunning quality, Mugdock Country Park is situated 15 minutes by car from the hotel. The park includes the remains of the 14th century Mugdock Castle, stronghold of the Grahams of Montrose, and the ruins of the 19th century Craigend Castle. Natural features include Allander Water, Mugdock Loch and Drumclog Muir. | Stirling Castle | Stirling Castle is by far the grandest of all of Scotlands castles and one of the most popular attractions in the country. Located 250 feet above the plateaux on an extint volcano, Stirling became the strategic military key to of the kingdom during the 13th and 14th century Wars of Independance and was a favourite royal residence of many Stuart monarchs.
